Dominicans won three different Sailing titles

Congratulations to Raul Aguayo , Irina Perez and Ari Barshi
These guys are representing DR very well


The 6th Caribbean Laser Midwinters 2008 sailing regatta held in Cabarete from 11-13 January was won by the Dominican contestant Raul Aguayo. This was a surprising victory, because insiders did not include him in their list of favourites. Two Canadian competitors took 2nd and 3rd places respectively (Lee Parkhill and Anthony Boueilh). The Dominican Irina Perez won in the Radial category, and the Dominican Ari Barshi took first prize in the Masters category. These wins show once again that the Dominican Republic is becoming one of the more respected countries when it comes to sailing competitions.

Raul was a medalist in the Pan Am Games in 2003 in the Sunfish, I think. His brother used to post regularly here.....good people..

Irina Perez (de Bros) is a dear friend and she is the instructor at the sailing school in Boca Chica. Her hubby is an engineer/architect. They are the ones that built the "hotel" at Punta Rucia..now where Paradise Tours hangs out...( Psst! Also a very good friend of Dolores, the owner of DR1!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
