DR to Cuba?

I'm wondering if there is any easy, and cheap way to get to Cuba from the Santo Domingo area. I am looking to spend a short week there, but have been unsuccessful in finding out how to get there. I was thinking that a bus to Haiti, and a boat would be easy, but if that can be avoided, I'd like to avoid a 10 hour bus ride w/o being sure a bus will be waiting.

I know that there is service between santiago de los caballeros and santiago de cuba. There is also service to santo domingo. Here is a link to the airlines serving the santiago airport I believe to cuba the service is offered by Caribair Aeropuerto Internacional del Cibao, Lineas Aereas AIC

The phone number for the SDQ airport is 809-947-2225. There they might be able to better assist you.

Cubana Aviacion has a flight every thursday and sunday from Las Americas Airport. There sales office is on the corner of Tiradentes and 27 de febrero.
