Not a great deal of use, more of a pain than a convenience, you will need a passport to cash at a Bank, resorts sometimes cash them with passport and proper i.d.
we cashed some last feb. in boca chica wasnt a problem showed the drivers lic. and they cashed them but took 1 percent too change them into pecos , i think it,s worth the piece of mind
I used traveler's checks on one trip and it was "a big pain". The hotel refused to take them so I had to stand in line at a bank to change to pesos. Debit cards and cash seem to work best.
