Hello everyone. Headed there in August for a week. I know about Ocean World and the beach. Anything else fun to do? Also, how safe are places at night?

Thanks!

The safety factor would depend on what type of places you are planning to frequent at night.
Please ensure you research this thoroughly to avoid any unnecessary potential problems.

Well...that kinda part of my question. We arent really looking for nightclubs, but dinner and drinks a night or two would be nice. Thanks for the quick response!

Well unless one is specific, it is hard to advise people...but yes, I did understand the question.

You may want to try "El Papillon" restaurant or head into Puerto Plata where you have a wider range of choices.

Head to Mickeys (tres cocos) near La Roca or in the back of the pizza place (nathale and stephanies) for great food in very nice and small setting.

Pizza at nathale's very good.

Ahora Beach house for drinks and chicken wings

Bravissimo show, dinner, and casino at Ocean World.

Chris and Mady's for drinks and food too.

Hi Champ...thank you. We are staying at the Villa Simply Paradise. Are you familiar with its area?

Since Pickerings uses dr1 for "announcements" I thought it safe to do the same here ....

You could venture to Costambar for a less "formal" night out, but still safer than Puerto Plata.

There are over 20 places to have a drink - if you include beach shacks & the colmado. Good food is a bit trickier to find though.
Sole Mio - italian
Don Quixote - german
Las Rocas - german
Bananas - dominican
Gym Bar - our place - international

We're 2 blocks from the beach & have Karaoke on Saturdays, darts on Tuesdays, regular movie nights & the pool table is open every day. We're in Costambar Monthly if you're interested.

Just my opinion, but I would most definitely skip the Bravissimo show and dinner. I did not go to the casino there, but the show and dinner is worth missing. Feel free to contact me for the details.

A couple of things...

I am not going to openly berate someone's operation here.

No need to disagree if you feel the need, like I said, it is my opinion.

Luckily I got to see the show for free. I have no idea how much it would cost to see a show, but it is my opinion that the money could be better spent elsewhere.

So here is a question, how would you rate this show to a Vegas show or a cruise ship show? If these are the type shows you are used to, does Bravissimo stack up?

Hello everyone. After reading through this forum for a couple of months, I'm am bumping my own thread. Everyone here has been SUPER helpful so far....thank you!!! I've now gathered what all there is to do in Cofresi...(I think) so now my question turns to this: Where is the best place to go other than Cofresi...that is safe at night? Also, once we get there, how hard will it be to get back?
Thanks again for your help!
