We have seen other stories of her. She is very tight with the guy who is head of Egypt's Antiquity Department--the one always on the History Channel...part of her thesis is that Cleopatra's grave is not where people thought it was.......

I wish her great luck....

Just read the article...yup that's the one....

And on the Tonight Show, Jay Leno just mentioned these discoveries, but did not mention the Dominican archeologist...

We capture that she's an Egyptologist as well as a lawyer from the article. Her work paid off as she studied and used a lawyer's point of view, to accept several known from history and other data on Cleo's and Marc Anthony as well.

This is not small dig project to the naked eye. It's a project that's been developing from more than 3 years of field digging' as well as many years (14) from her stand point in researching all data on the matter.

All centers (as the article you linked to above) to her well investigated opinion on the actual deaths of both and their demise being from a religious stand rather than one out of pure desperation in the last second (at least in Cleo's case). As the article reports, her opinion on the religious part were criticized and dismissed by the rest of the field's experts and Egyptologists as well...

This could just as easy turn to be the 21st century's greatest discovery for our civilization's history.

She spend years studying the people and culture, along all related data that could be mined to reach her best educated opinion on where Cleo's burial site could be found and the later findings are proving her more right than anything else after being disparaged by other experts on the field...

Beginner's luck is something you stick to somebody that takes a whack at something out of the blue, you don't call it beginner's luck after she spent over 14 years on the hunt and getting the right data to base a well educated clue to do the digging...

Finding a bust of Cleo, coins with their faces, both hers and Marc's at the same dig is as close to payday as getting your cheque handed to you from the payroll dept and standing in line at the check-o-matic to see the greens...

This is her doing all the way... The related experts and field only stand on the side lines in awe as she digs under the veil of protection of one of the most powerful people in Egypt archeology's field...

Kudos for a Dominican in Egypt!!!!!

She's getting tons of press, which IMO is not that good, because it will be a huge letdown if she doesn't find the tomb of Cleopatra. I hope she's not setting herself up for a repeat of Geraldo Rivera's search for Al Capone's safe. If I was her would have kept it in DL...

It's her dig and she's absorbing the financial expenses for it, so I see it on good terms that she uses every bit of press possible to recap her money there...

Also, she has never implied the certainty of having found "the" tomb of Cleo and Marc, but more clearly than not that several mummies with royal characteristics have been spotted in their digs. The most intriguing and exciting of the excavation is that finding coins with Cleo's and Marc's likeness as well as her bust along the remnants of depictions from the God Isis is very unlikely to happen within the perimeter of any given dig to date. Plug that along the fact that not a single mommy has been vandalized or their tombs violated. The entire archeological community is standing in their toes as "if" (and a big one while at it) the excavation reveals the actual tomb of Cleo and Marc it would eclipse all others in Egypt's history. Including king Tut...

In the event of not such great discovery coming to light, her 15 minutes of fame will provide a good morale boost to thousands of children in the DR to follow on her tracks.

I wish her the best as well as a Dominican countryman, not only b/c of that alone but b/c a big slice of our world's history could be unraveled via forensic science of today, if that were to occur.

We must not forget that Zahi Hawass, director of Egypt?s Superior Council for Antiquities is the lead on this dig and not her. Responsibility ultimately falls on him.

We must not forget that Zahi Hawass, director of Egypt’s Superior Council for Antiquities is the lead on this dig and not her. Responsibility ultimately falls on him.

Zahi Hawass is the lead on ALL excavations occurring in Egypt, yet for all that, it's the responsibility 100% of the excavation leader (as in her) to where the digging go and goes not.

The responsibility and credit are certainly hers, and that's from Zahi Hawass' mouth. Zahi dons over the entire project, but the tip of the spear is her alone...

Did you know that there are over 114 active excavations in Egypt as of today? And that Zahi is the leader over all of them?

To start an excavation you need to convince not only Zahi but a whole team or seasoned professionals under his command, which are made up of top leaders in their field from all over the globe. It took this woman years to finally convince Zahi to allow her to start a new excavation, keep in mind that the funds are from her own pocket...

Obama is the commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces, yet he's not the one driving an MRAP or M1A2 in Iraq or conducting Counter insurgency operations in the mountains of the Taliban's hood... The same is for Zahi and his command of all the excavations in Egypt. Don't take away credit from this maverick woman just b/c...

Thanks Suarezn

I hope this site turns out to be the tomb of MA and Cleopatra-that would be quite something. There have been several highly trumpted discoveries(Alexander the Great's supposed tomb comes to mind) that turned out to be major disappointments. This site looks quite promising.

Suarezn, thank you for the web links. The Associated Content site is really interesting. Some really interesting articles on that site. :bunny:
