so the tropical wave which popped up SE of puerto rico been expected to move over Hispaniola today.
at this moment it is located south of Saona Island, moving WNW,
looks like some rain for the southcoast.
even that it would slow down over land, the system is moving fast and should have passed the DR late tonight.
actual effects here on the east are strong winds of around 15 knots with higher gusts, Sea Choppy but good for fishing still.
looks like we will not feel any significant effect on the east coast,
the south may get some rain and 20-25 knots of winds.

Had a nasty squall with 35+ knots of wind gusts and rain pass over the BVI today around 3:30PM, following the tropical wave that just passed over the area. NOAA weather warning said the disturbance was moving westward over the USVI around 4:30PM and then onwards. Don't know if it will pass near your area, but watch out!

i took a lst look for today on the sat shots around half an hour ago,
i would say the tropical wave is as such moving nowhere, it seems it is falling apart.
but that would of course not delete all the rainload collected around by that lil formation, it may during tonight build what we call a guaguada, on na NW or WNW track such slow moving rainload would mess up with us for a couple days easily.
as a pure tropical wave, fast moving on its 15_ miles per hour it would have passed our area tonight and in the morning all would have been fine.
now i really have against my own prior prediction doubts about that.
at this moment we are completely dry, and we have no wind around, during today we had some tough gusts, but nothing special, it been a full sunny day with a strong breeze.
waterloads in the way of a guaguada are not on the funny side, it messes the weather due to strong rainfalls without big wind involved, slow moving, means longer lasting, and such could in the mountainous and riverside areas produce the typical dangerous water problems, like mudslides or rising rivers.
but right now nothing of that, but there's a bunch of rain south and southwest.
it may disappear from the screen til we wake up in the morning, my fav idea, i have a couple fishing runs planned for tomorrow morning.
it could also start the week as a 'singing in the rain'.
at least no real danger of anything present for the east coast.
good eve

Rain fall at the moment over Santo Domingo, it will be fun getting to work! Why don't we have rubber boots here like in Canada?

yes Wud,
that's 97L, on the screens since last week.
a little tropical wave,
not forming up since,
very unfavorable surroundings,
will pass our longitudes around mid week.
i don't think we get any effect of it here on the east coast.
for the south it may bring again some rain,
that's not unusual for the caribbean coastline of the island,
most tropical formations move throu the caribbean Sea, so the south coast, Bayahibe, La Romana, San Pedro, Santo Domingo get a bit more of such rains than the dryer and protected east coast during hurricane season.
today been an other sunny beach day,
we are back from the beach with visiting friends right now to grab some cold ones in the shaddow.
it's hot and dry.

so 97L did weaken more, moves very fast,
but also is on a NW trail.
PC is still dry,
but wind is growing up by the hour,
for this afternoon we will get the clouds in.
97L will move over the Island,
nothing to be concerned about.
a cloudy and most likely also a rainy afternoon later on today.
gusts are high but not near any dangerous wind forces.
and surroundings are not favorable to let it grow,
looks like it goes on weakening and it moves fast forward.
tomorrow morning all should be fine.

and we have a new disturbance,
located north of the mid Bahamas area,
thunderstorm activity is on,
and even with not much favorable 20_knots windshear it is slowly growing.
still not organized.
it will be no threat for the Island Hispaniola,
actual movement brings that area towards North Carolina.
the SST's over the whole area there are favorably very high,
so that thingy should be watched carefully by the people living there.
those small disturbances move quick,
it may hit coastline in less than 2 days from now.

12:39PM,
the tropical wave arrived on the east coast,
wind gusts come up but not in a power way,
heavy rain is on.

i wish i would have get caught by that down at the colmado,
would be the prefect excuse to stay there and kill those greenies til tonight, lol.

rain stopped at the moment,
fully cloudy still,
wind did even slow down while rain poured down for a short while.
looks like it passed very wuick,
but it also looks like there may a bit more of rain available in the afterwards.
and we also hear a bit of thunder here in cabeza de \toro, no lightning, yet.
til now all in all:
a half sunny day with afternoon clouds and a 40 minutes rain.
nothing bad.
on the screen there is still a big piece of cloud formation left which still did not pass over us,
we will find out soon what's in that one, he he

cloudy and windy the rest of the afternoon, but no more significant rain.

and we have ELECTRICITY, ha ha.

looks like most water of the lil beast been on it's southern end, that should be somewhere in front of the southcoast, and falling apart.

the disturbance over the bahamas also looks like dying,
surface pressures are everywhere in the high range around the Isle, that's good for us and bad for formations.
enjoy the eve

we are on the east in the mix, sun and clouds, it is dry, electricity is on.
it's moving to the SE bahamas now, still many clouds over wide parts of Hispaniola of course, following the movement of the disturbance up there which is not organizing but spreading out very wide over a huge area while moving towards North Carolina, no big winds or such involved, but rain there.

this morning nothing new in vicinity,
watching the highway til around 1500 miles eastwards i notice that the surface pressure is still falling and SST's are on favorable 27-28C there, a bit higher here on our east coast. wind shears are strong there but such can change one day to an other. getting a disturbance there would be an point of 'interest'.
how was the weather around La Romana yesterday afternoon?
anybody down there?

and the SST on the south caribbean side are 2C and up to 3C cooler than the present ones here on the Dominican south and east coast, so every lil rainfront coming from the east or southeast may get a lil push northwards to come closer to us.
at the moment the map is clear, like shown by Juanita.
now that the day comes to an end we had on the eats some clouds, been mostly sunny, no rain, it was very hot today, high humidity felt like.
