The newly sworn-in mayor of Santo Domingo Este, Evangelic pastor Dio Astacio installed billboards with his image and that of President Luis Abinader in the green area of the ecological avenue and in other green areas in the area. El Dia reported the action is a violation of the law by the new mayor who won the position with the backing of the ruling Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).
El Dia reports the billboard impacts the newly installed Paseo de la Historia and the monument dedicated to the late President Juan Bosch.
The mayor also installed a billboard promoting his support to the reelection of President Abinader in a protected area of Av. Barceló at the entrance to the municipality of Santo Domingo East.
Other large billboards in areas under Santo Domingo East rulings also promote the figure of the official alongside President Abinader.
