Expats are aware there are at least four Dominican brands of jeans and these are sold in the DR only?

This is news to me, never knew it.
With Blue Country this is just their jeans division, but they actually have all sort of clothings. Most of their clothings have the name Blue Country, the logo of the brand or both. Their products and stores are found in the DR only. As far as I know, their brand isn't exported. One could think that since the name is in English it could could be American, Canadian, British, etc; but in reality is Dominican through and through. lol Much of their stuff is made in their factory in SD and some, like their shoes, are designed by them but made in Europe. Quite frankly, I think they should consider expanding at least to neighboring Caribbean islands and in the USA.

Because they (the jeans) are made in the DR, are they made in free zones and if so are there underlying reasons they don't ship out of the country? I have been sourcing women's clothing, and jeans of course, and a quick glance at their pricing doesn't seem to be a bargain. When I get a chance I will check out their quality in the malls mentioned.
Nals, do you have any data on how well their products sell here?

Other than they have been around since 1998, not much else. The not exporting mantra is more common than many people think, Jenny Polanco has that philosopy. According to her, anyone in the world that wanted to buy her clothes should go to her stores in the DR. The company may have a different attitude towards international expansion now that she is dead, but while she was alive most of her stores were in the DR.
