Pros and Cons of putting the car in my name, before selling it...any advice?

Yes, the transfer have to be done in person, you have to deposit all the documents that give you the owner, the legal contract selling to you then the DGII will complete the transfer process.
I have done over a dozen car sales without being present at any stage of the sale, so not true.

What do you think dealers do?

I have never done that but, then again, I've always used a lawyer. For as little as I paid, I didn't have to think about any of that or waste my time going anywhere.
