República Brewing Beers and Expats

What do expats think of the craft beers ftom República Brewing? They are from Santo Domingo.

The Buches beer came in 3rd place in a competition in Colombia of several beers from throughout Latin America.

Their beers can be found in many places throughout the Dominican Republic including in many stores of Nacional, Sirena, Jumbo and others. They also have a bar in Isabel La Católica Street in the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo (REPUBLICA BREWING DRAFT ROOM).

According to the founder of República Brewing, while served cold their beers can also be consumed warm and many get more flavors that way.

PS. RJ López is Dominican (Cuban father, Dominican mother), but has a strong American accent due to living for many years in the USA and speaking mostly English.

That was May thru August. When I got here in October all anyone had was Coors light and MGD. If you really searched you could find some Brahma light and Modello. Corona was always there but its just Coors light in glass bottle for 50% more.
In all fairness, when I walk in now and see either Presidente normal or Bohemia I just buy it without looking at the shelf.
If I see Canita I want to burn the store down but that's a whole different issue

The first 3 in Nals first photo look OK. But chocolate or sour beer? If you want chocolate eat a Mars bar. If you want sour, well maybe go see a doctor

I went to Liqormart today, they had these beers and these beers are priced between 140 to 180 pesos per 355ml bottle. Modelo was on sale for 65 pesos for a 355ml bottle.
I will be drinking Modelo this week.
At these prices I don't know if they micro brewery can survive in this market. I won't be supporting them. They are above my pay grade.

They had better be really good at those prices or they will never survive. Modelo was on sale today at Janet's for 50 pesos.

I went to their location three times last week, the sour brew is actually a very good beer. La More is also one of my favorites, but it is very heavy and I can only drink one. There used to be a good beer called "La Negra" which was fairly similar.

On a side note, a draft beer at their location in La Zona is 450 pesos. I know... "location" but it's insane to me. Two rounds of their own draft beer for 40 dollars. The ambiance and music are nice though. There are a couple of other breweries with prices far below that. Tap Room Santo Domingo is a cool alternative. You can do a tour of their facility and it includes a flight of beers for 600 pesos I believe.
