There are hardly any expats in the entire southern region of the DR, but Sirena open in Barahona. This is the furthest Sirena to its closest warehouse and the first Sirena in the "deep south." I think this also marks the first national supermarket/hypermarket (except banks) that open a hypermarket store in the Dominican south westward of Baní.

I think this is more of a speculation, but if it's a sucess expect the other national and/or Santo Domingo chains to follow suit.

I think this is the first amateur video of a visit to Sirena Barahona.

We are thrilled! I think we've already gone 4 times. :D The community is embracing Sirena as well. Not only for the ones that live in Barahona, but many from the surrounding towns are traveling in to visit the new superstore. It's been crowded every day since it opened! The early crowds will probably die down a bit in the coming weeks.

We are excited what else Plaza El Encanto will bring. For sure a Dominio's and possibly a Santo Domingo Cafe, which will be welcome eateries!

You can read a little about the history of the project here on our blog.

Here's a short video that we posted recently of our trip to Sirena.
