The presidential candidate of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Luis Abinader, stated on Monday, 4 May 2020 that the country needs efficient and coherent actions to return to normal. He criticized what he called trials and frustrations that the authorities have been implementing to control the Covid-19, as reported in Hoy. The Dominican Republic has been under a National State of Emergency since 20 March 2020.

“The country still has time to control the epidemic, but to do so we must stop concentrating on the daily number of infections and deaths and follow up on actions that make the difference between success and failure,” Abinader said at a meeting with medical specialists from that political organization, with whom he discussed possible solutions to the health crisis affecting the nation.
