Gustavo Núñez capitalized on an error by Dutchman Dwayne Kemp and the Dominican Republic national baseball team defeated the Netherlands 4-3 in the Tokyo Olympic qualifier in Puebla, Mexico. As a result, the DR advanced to the finals. The DR had already defeated Venezuela in the round-robin. Teams Venezuela and Netherlands will play on 25 June 2021 to decide who will match Team DR in the final scheduled for Saturday, 26 June 2021 at 2pm (Santo Domingo time). The winner of the game gets the last slot available to play in the Tokyo baseball tournament. The teams that had already qualified for the Tokyo Olympics are Japan, Israel, Korea, Mexico and the USA.

Team manager Hector Borg announced Radhames Liz as the pitcher for the last game.
