The UK government is discouraging vacations of its citizens to the Dominican Republic. The country is being added to the UK red list where holidays are not allowed as of 30 June 2021. Anyone needing to travel to a country on the red list for essential reasons must quarantine at a government hotel at their own cost for 10 days on return to the UK.

The United Kingdom is moving the Dominican Republic to its red list as of 4am on Wednesday, 30 June 2021. Previously, the DR had been on its amber list. The UK says the measure seeks to prevent new Covid-19 variants from entering England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland. The UK recommends its citizens to not travel to amber or red list countries.
