President Luis Abinader accepted the diplomatic credentials of the new ambassadors of Spain, European Union, Uruguay, Switzerland, Italy and El Salvador at the Presidential Palace on 5 October 2021. Foreign Minister Roberto Alvarez was also present.

During the protocol ceremony, which took place in the Ambassadors Hall of the Presidential Palace, Abinader spoke for about three minutes with each of the ambassadors who presented their letters of credence.

Presenting credentials were:Uruguay. Cristina Carrion, for Uruguay. Carrion had been the academic director of the Foreign Service Institute (diplomatic school) in her country.
