The people of the Dominican Republic shared the grief of the Piera family after the announced death of Sonia Piera of lung cancer. Sonia Piera was the oldest sister of leading investigative journalist Nuria Piera.

Sonia ran the logistics, administrative and marketing end of the Provideo, the company that produces Nuria Investigación Periodística and N Digital, online news service. Sonia Piera is survived by her children Wilfredo and Enrique.

The wake was set for Wednesday, 9 February 2022 at the Funeraria Blandino at Av. Luperón from 9am to 12 noon. She will be buried at the Puerta del Cielo cemetery.
