Bernardo Pie, competing in the -68kg category for the Dominican Republic, won gold in the Pan American Taekwondo Championship in Punta Cana. The competition was held at the Barcelo Bavaro Hotel. He defeated Hervan Nkogho of Canada in the final. David Felipe Paz of Colombia and Ignacio Morales of Chile won silver and bronze.

Moises Hernandez won silver in the -80 kg category.

Katherine Rodriguez won bronze for the country in the +73 kilogram category. Marilyn De La Cruz and Nalleli de Martin in the -73 kilogram category also won bronze.

Around 400 athletes from 40 nations participate in the Pan American Taekwondo Championship, a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
