Ruling party senator for La Romana, Ivan Silva announced he has deposited a habeas corpus legal recourse to the Superior Administrative Court (TSA) after the Ministry of Energy & Mines failed to comply with a request for information on the companies that extract gold in the Dominican Republic. The request was made through the freedom of information office (Law 200-04).

As reported in Diario Libre, Silva said that on 18 July 3 and 24 August 2022, he requested the Ministry of Energy & Mines provide the list of national and international companies that are exploiting gold here.

The Ministry of Energy & Mines recently said that the Dominican Republic has reserves to exploit an additional 26 million ounces.

Ivan Silva is an advocate of lithium exploitation in the Dominican Republic.
