The Hospital San Lorenzo de los Mina reported the birth of Siamese twins babies on 22 September 2022 to a 25-year old mother. The male infants were born united by the chest and abdomen. The babies share one liver, stomach, have four upper limbs and two lower limbs. They have independent brains and hearts.

The babies were identified early on by ultrasound. A team of physicians and psychologists was assigned to the case, including doctors Alexandra Pérez Medrano, Bianchi Duarte, Rosario, Aslhey Abreu and Jennifer Rosado, coordinated by Dr. Dafne Sánchez.

“Dr. Leonardo Aquino Rosario, director of the public maternity hospital, said there have been other cases of Siamese twins at the hospital.
