Former President Danilo Medina (2012-2016, 2016-2020) has tested positive for Covid-19 in the most recent wave of cases. The 71-year old former statesman tested positive on Thursday, 15 December 2022, a spokesman for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) reported. The former President is waiting out the illness at home.
This is the first time that former President Danilo Medina tests positive to Covid-19.
The former President has kept a low profile after prosecutors presented evidence of widespread corruption in his administration, including files that accuse of graft his brothers and sisters and high-ranking cabinet members.
