President Luis Abinader was in Bonao on Saturday, 11 February 2023 for the inauguration of the Bonao campus of the Institute of Technology of the Americas (ITLA). During the inauguration, President Abinader said that the programming is that by the end of 2024 the university will have open 12 campuses nationwide. During the Abinader administration, four campuses have been added, including the Bonao extension. The first ITLA opened in eastern Santo Domingo.

Abinader said that ITLA graduates are in high demand. He said that the employability of these technicians is around 95%.

The cost and equipment of the ITLA extension in Bonao was more than RD$19 million. The Bonao campus has five classrooms and state-of-the-art laboratories to teach Itla’s courses and workshops. The center specializes in technology courses of short duration and continuing education. It is open to...
