The Second Court of Instruction of the National District postponed for 22 March 2023 the start of the preliminary hearings in the homicide case involving retired vice-admiral Felix Albuquerque Comprés, a former head of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) during the Medina administration. The Public Prosecutor’s Office accuses Albuquerque Comprés of firing shots that killed defenseless communicator Manuel Taveras Duncan after a verbal exchange at a hot dog stand in Santo Domingo.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office insists it has sufficient evidence linking Alburquerque Comprés to the crime. Alburquerque Comprés was ordered to serve a one-year preventive custody in Najayo on 31 August 2022.
According to the indictment, Alburquerque Comprés killed the communicator Manuel Duncan on 19 August 2022, at approximately 2:30am.
