President Luis Abinader designated political leader Juan Alberto Cohen Sander as the country’s executive director of the National Commission for the Promotion and Development of Golf. Cohen is a past president of the Dominican Golf Federation (2008-2014).

The measure is contained in Decree 104-23 issued on 15 March 2023 but not reported on the Presidency website, Listin Diario indicates when making the announcement.

Cohen is the president of the Partido Nacional Voluntad Ciudadana (PNCV) and was the presidential candidate of that political grouping in 2016. The PNCV had been an ally of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) until the 2020 elections.
