The legendary Rafael Bello Andino, who would be the powerful secretary and inseparable aide of former President Joaquin Balaguer, has died. Ensegundos.do reports Bello Andino began working with Balaguer in 1956.

He passed away at 89 years of age at the Corazones Unidos clinic in Santo Domingo. He had been hospitalized for 10 days.

In November 2021, President Luis Abinader increased the pension the man received from the state from RD$80,000 to RD$150,000.

After the passing away of former President Balaguer, he was named president of the Social Christian Reformist Party (PRSC). He would later move on to preside the Balaguer Foundation.
