The National Police and Ground Transport Agency (Digesett) traffic authorities seized and arrested the drivers of 10 high-end cars on Thursday, 14 September 2023 in the late evening when these were recklessly driving along Abraham Lincoln Avenue. The racing has been a too common occurrence, putting at danger the lives of those that may come in the path of the powerful vehicles.

As reported in Diario Libre, most of the seized luxury vehicles are still registered in the names of the legislators who imported these tax-free. In 2021, Diario Libre published an investigative report on the side business created by the provision voted by the legislators themselves that allows each legislator to import any vehicle every two years of their four year terms.

The National Police reported the operation was carried out in response to complaints from citizens.
