It could become another “I told you so,” story. Known officially as the Francisco del Rosario Sanchez Bridge, the popularly known El Puende de la 17, could collapse any time now. Unfortunately, the government allowed families to build their homes and businesses under the bridge forming the Los Guandules neighborhood, and now these people are demanding the government relocate them. The residents say parts of the bridge have been falling. The residents say they do not have resources to relocate.

Engineer Osiris de Leon has said that an assessment calls for a major restructuring or the demolition of the 50-year old bridge as it is beyond repair. He urges government action before there is a tragedy.
