Fernando Tatis Sr, who still holds the MLB record of two grand slams in one inning set in 1999, and who ended his career playing for the New York Mets, is now the general manager of the Estrellas Orientales. He says he will be requesting that the San Diego Padres extend the permission granted to his son, Fernando Tatis Jr. to play in the Dominican Professional Baseball League. While the Estrellas finished the regular season in second position, they are now on a roll and the team is in first place and most likely will make one of the two playoff slots.

The San Diego Padres had authorized Fernando Tatis Jr to play 20 games in the Dominican baseball league. Tatis Jr has guided the team’s stellar participation in the round-robin that ends on 18 January 2024.
