Executives of the Spanish company Baleària took advantage of the Fitur travel fair in Madrid to present its new ferry route between the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

Baleària is conditioning the port in southeastern San Pedro de Macoris for the daily sea commute, scheduled to start in November 2024. The new sea route will connect Mayaguez and San Pedro de Macoris, a short drive from the Juan Dolio and La Romana beaches. This would be the second ferry connecting Mayaguez. There is already a Mayaguez-Santo Domingo ferry.

Baleària plans to invest 100 million dollars in the start-up. The country will benefit from the company’s strategic innovation and sustainability. The company promises combined transport for passengers, vehicles and goods, with daily and reliable connections.
