News media have picked up the story first appearing in Forbes that 72 year old legendary billionaire Vasili Anisimov renounced his Russian citizenship in September 2022 to take on Dominican citizenship.

Animosov’s fortune is estimated at US$1.6 billion. Reportedly, he is also a citizen of Croatia.

The Kazakh-born businessman Vasily Anisimov is said to be at least the seventh billionaire to renounce his Russian citizenship after the invasion of Ukraine, Forbes Russia reported on Thursday, 8 February 2024, citing documents provided by the exiled oligarch.
