Park rangers at work in Montecristi at the Estero Balsa National Park have removed upwards of a thousand traps set to capture protected birds and released these back to the wild, reports El Nuevo Diario, in its coverage of a Ministry of Environment press release.
Birds rescued by the park rangers include the majestic Black Neck Stilt (Himantopus mexicanus), flamingos (Phoenicopterus ruber) and the Roseate spoonbill (Platalea ajaja) that make the park area home.
