The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) reports it confiscated a shipment of cocaine in boxes of fresh papaya that would have been exported to Madrid, Spain from the Las Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo
The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) seized 180 packages suspect to be cocaine during an inspection operation carried out at the Las Americas International Airport (SDQ).
The DNCD agents, assisted by a canine unit, were carrying out a verification tasks in one of the loading areas of the airport cargo terminal, when they noticed inconsistencies in several boxes loaded with papayas and requested the assistance of prosecutors.
In the presence of a prosecutor, the boxes were opened and in eight of these, 180 packages of what is presumed to be cocaine were found.
The load would be shipped on a commercial flight to Madrid, Spain.
