President Luis Abinader received the global CEO of Scotiabank at the Presidential Palace on 3 April 2024. Scott Thomson is on a visit to different countries in the region.

A Scotiabank press release explains that during the meeting Abinader and Thompson spoke of the importance of the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean in the Scotiabank’s recently announced global strategy.

The key role of different driving sectors of the economy such as free zones, agribusiness, industrial sectors, energy, tourism, among others, was mentioned, reaffirming the priority that Scotiabank is giving to the Caribbean as part of its new strategy.
