The Banco Popular confirmed the robbery of its small branch located on Avenida Gregorio Luperón corner Calle Olof Palme. The robbery took place on 3 June 2024 at around 4:30pm.

The bank reported that no injuries were sustained by either customers or employees.

According to witnesses, four armed men with covered faces burst into the branch. While two of the men subdued the security guard, a third stole an undisclosed amount of money. A fourth robber was waiting in a getaway vehicle, in which the group fled after committing the crime.

The bank is working with the Police to identify and apprehend the robbers.

Banco Popular Dominicano announced that the staff of this branch will receive psychological support from a team of professionals from the institution. The aging security guard was not injured, but was shaken by the incident, as reported in Listin Diario...
