The Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) announced that 400m runner Marileidy Paulino and gymnast Audrys Nin (artistic gymnastics, vault) will be the flag-bearers for the 57-athlete strong team to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The Dominican Republic will compete in 13 sports in the Olympics that start on 26 July and end on 11 August 2024.
The Dominican Republic will compete with 33 men and 24 women, including two team sports contingents: men’s football (18 athletes) and women’s volleyball (24 athletes). This is the first time the Dominican Republic has qualified to compete in football.
For the Tokyo 2020 Games, held in 2021, the Dominican Republic participated with a record of 66 athletes, including women’s volleyball and baseball as team sports.
