David Ortiz with son D’Angelo Ortiz and Lucas Ramírez / Color Vision

In the 14-16 July 2024 MLB draft, the sons of baseball legends David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez were both selected by Major League Baseball teams.

D’Angelo Ortiz, the son of David Ortiz, was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 19th round, 567th overall pick. He is currently attending Miami Dade Community College Kendall in Florida.

Lucas Ramirez, the son of Manny Ramirez, was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 17th round, 502nd overall pick. He is an 18-year-old outfielder from American Heritage High School in Florida. This summer, he has played 11 games in the West Coast League, getting 9 hits in 31 at-bats with a double, more walks (8) than strikeouts (7), and a victory. He is committed to join the University of Tennessee.
