RIU Hotels & Resorts has reopened its Riu Palace Bavaro located in the central Arena Gorda beach area in central Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The renovation called for the demolition of the Riu Naiboa next door to make room for expanding the Riu Palace to become a 944-room resort with a dedicated family area and more water and outdoor activities. Punta Cana resorts have become synonymous with water fun.

Of the 944 rooms, 255 have three beds and are located in the family area. Another area has 108 club-level rooms for Elite Club members. Of these 60 include a private pool.
