Career prosecutor Yeni Berenice Reynoso was chosen by President Luis Abinader with the unanimous backing of the National Council of the Magistracy (CNM). She cannot be removed for two years, and her term can be extended for another two years.

Reynoso has climbed the prosecutor ladder, being prosecutor of Santiago (2009-2011) and then the National District Attorney (2011-2018). When she was named National District attorney in 2011, she was the youngest ever, either man or woman.

She had aspired to be a judge of the Supreme Court of Justice, but instead became the chief crime prosecutor (2020-24).

On Friday, 21 February 2025, she was named Attorney General of the Republic through the new National Council of the Magistracy protocol. The protocol called for the President to name the candidate and the members of the CNM to vote in favor or against. The members of the...
