President Luis Abinader will meet with former Presidents Danilo Medina (2012-2016 and 2016-2020), Leonel Fernández (1996-2000, 2004-2008, 2008-2012), and Hipólito Mejía (2000-2004) on Wednesday, 14 May 2025 at 4pm at the Ministry of Defense. The meeting comes in response to Abinader’s formal invitation sent on 30 April 2025, which was accepted by all three former Presidents.

The meeting was originally convened for the Presidential Palace, but it was later accepted by the three former statesmen to be held at the Ministry of Defense.

The Presidency reports the gathering will focus on national security in light of the growing instability in Haiti and its potential impact on the Dominican Republic.
