Dominican Republic and Haiti border officials and the “Frontera Caribe” project emphasize the need to view the shared border region as a space for life and prosperity. The “Frontera Caribe” project, led by the Autonomous University of Barcelona, aims to improve education, research, and journalism related to the Dominican-Haitian border.

Following a tour of development projects showcasing government and private sector interest, representatives, including Erick Dorrejo from the Ministry of Economy and Spanish journalists Santiago Tejedor, David Jiménez, and Álvaro Laforet, highlighted the area’s potential for economic growth through trade, tourism, manufacturing, and agriculture.
