The Dominican Republic’s Paris Olympics gold medal winner Marileidy Paulino once again showed her class and won first in the women’s 400m Grand Slam Track event held in Philadelphia, USA. She clocked in a season best with 49.12, defeating Nickisha Pryce of Jamaica (50.04) and Isabella Whittaker of USA (50.16). Salwa Eid Naser of Bahrain (49.47) ran to the outside lane and was disqualified for lane infringement. Naser was the silver medal winner in the event in the Paris Olympic Games in 2024 and has been Paulino’s main competitor since.

The Grand Slam Track events come with the highest cash prizes in athletics, or US$100,000 in the case of the 400m. The second place gets US$50,000 and the third place gets RD$30,000. The prize money is a significant increase over the Diamond League, where winners received US$10,000...
