The Office for Transport Reorganization (Opret) in charge of the Santo Domingo Metro announced on 10 June 2025 the completion of the full railway track installation for the new Line 2C, a 7.3-kilometer extension that includes an elevated viaduct, an underground tunnel, and an operational tail section housing the train turnaround system. The subway line is way behind schedule, but advances seem to be made to meet the announcement made by President Luis Abinader that it would be open to the public in February 2026.
