Julia Simpson, president and CEO of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), is highly optimistic about the Dominican Republic’s tourism future. She predicts the nation will solidify its position as the leading tourism destination in Central America and the Caribbean in both 2025 and 2026.

In an exclusive interview with Diario Libre, Simpson shared her insights on the global tourism landscape and the Dominican Republic’s prominent role within it.

“Global tourism is advancing strongly,” Simpson stated. “By the end of 2025, the sector is projected to contribute an impressive US$11.7 trillion to the global GDP, accounting for 10% of the world’s total,” says Simpson.
