Interpol, the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Attorney General Office (PGR) and the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) are investigating the operation of Mexican criminals in the Dominican Republic.

Local media has been following the story of The Rugrats, as the Sinaloa Cartel group here is known. They would have set up shop here but the authorities said they left for Mexico via Colombia after the interagency crackdown on their operations. The explanation is that the cartel would have sought to set up operations in the DR as an alternate route for the trafficking of fentanyl to the United States.
