In a significant blow to drug trafficking, the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD), in a joint operation with the Public Ministry (Attorney General Office), has confiscated a shipment of 1,303 pounds of suspected marijuana in Montecristi province, on the northwest coast of the country. The seizure is reportedly the result of extensive surveillance and intelligence work.

Acting on intelligence, operational units and prosecutors raided a residence on Dominicanos Residentes en Estados Unidos Street in the Buen Hombre sector of Villa Vásquez municipality of Montecristi. The property was believed to be a stash house for illicit substances.

Upon entering the home, authorities conducted a thorough inspection, discovering 24 white sacks containing 154 packages of a plant substance, believed to be marijuana, with an estimated weight of 1,303 pounds.
