Dominican authorities seized a substantial shipment of suspected illicit drugs south of Beata Island off the southwestern coast of the Dominican Republic on Monday, 28 July 2025 in the afternoon during a joint operation, sources close to the investigation confirmed, CDN reports.

Beata Island is a small islet on the Caribbean Sea located 7 km southwest from Cabo Beata, on the southwesternmost coast of the Dominican Republic, bordering with Haitian waters. A Navy outpost is located there.
