New data reveals that Haitian migrants represented a substantial 10.53% of all deaths from homicides, suicides, and accidents in the Dominican Republic during 2024, as reported in Diario Libre. These figures offer a glimpse into the size of the Haitian population within the country and the challenging conditions many face.

According to the National Statistics Office (ONE) in its “2024 Yearbook of Accidental and Violent Deaths,” released on 25 July 2025, of the 4,187 individuals who died from these four causes, 441 were from Haiti. Another 261 were from other countries or their nationality was not recorded.
