Responding to demand, the Opret, the office that manages the Santo Domingo metro lines and the skylifts, announced new schedules for these mass transport services.

The Santo Domingo Metro as of 31 July 2025 is now open half an hour earlier than previously announced. The earlier 5:30am opening time comes as a blessing for commuters. Long queues form every morning. The service is offered through 10:30pm.

On Saturdays, the Santo Domingo Metro will close earlier at 10pm. And on Sundays, the schedule will be from 6am to 10pm.

The Santo Domingo Metro is also adding more cars to serve the hundreds of thousands who board Greater Santo Domingo’s mass transit service. For RD$20 you can cross the city.
