For decades, the traffic authorities have been looking away and allowing people to park even under No Parking signs. Now, Intrant (the National Institute of Transit and Transport) and Digesett (the Traffic Safety Agency) say things will be different.

Private companies have been allocated RD$4,000 to remove vehicles wrongly parked. Intrant will get RD$1,000 of the RD$5,000 recovery cost for those parked where they shouldn’t park to get their vehicles back.

Whatever, believe it or not, spare yourself the grief of being one of the first scapegoats in this new effort to reduce traffic jams in the capital city.

The private tow trucks are first working the upscale areas of Piantini, Naco, Paraiso and Seralles in the so-called Poligono Central.
