Marileidy Paulino came in fourth in the 200m spring at the Diamond League Lausanne competition as she continues to prepare for the 400m in the World Athletics competition in September. Her race in the Lausanne event was a cash prize of US$3,000 for the Dominican Olympic gold medalist.
She clocked 22:43 compared to her personal best in the race of 22:30. The race was won by Britanny Brown of the United Kingdom with 22:23. Next was Ofili Favour of Nigeria with 22:31 and Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith of Ivory Coast with 22:37.
Paulino chose not to compete in the 400m in Lausanne because she already had already qualified for the Diamond League final to take place in Zurich after winning three races in that category. In the 400m in Lausanne, her main competitor, Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Naser, despite the lure of more prize money, clocked in fifth with a time of 51.08.
