There are many traffic laws in the Dominican Republic. The problem has not been the lack of laws; the problem has been the lax enforcement of the laws. The enforcement of the laws is left up to the General Transit and Land Transportation Safety Agency (Digesett).
The National Institute of Transit and Ground Transportation (Intrant) is now calling on all freight vehicle drivers in the Dominican Republic to strictly adhere to the use of the right-hand lane on highways and roads, in line with Law 63-17 on Mobility, Land Transport, Transit, and Road Safety.
Intrant also reminds drivers that freight vehicles may only use other lanes when overtaking is explicitly permitted.
The directive aims to streamline traffic flow, reduce accident risks, and prevent heavy vehicles from obstructing faster or overtaking lanes.
